10/26/17Word of the Day - flyblown (adjective) Foul and run-down and repulsive.
Let's see if we can get back into this. It's just like riding a bike, right? How hard can it be? I guess it depends if that bike has been ridden through a thousand swamps of muck and grime. If it's chain has ever been oiled and the tires replaced as they wore out. If the paint job was ever refreshed as the years took their toll. I look down at my prize: A rust-red series of welded pipes with only one tire. I don't even know if it can be saved. The back axle is nearly unrecognizable, but the front one can still be salvaged. Tires are a dime a dozen, but fixing the axle will be much harder. I can't even tell what the handlebars used to look like; all that's left of them is a hint that they were ever there. I tie it to my back with ropes and start my way back to the edge of the woods.

The covers which had kept me warm in the night, were now removed slowly so I could savor their fleeting warmth. I could not linger, for I knew my mother would be calling me soon to milk our cows. I quickly dressed into my work clothes and headed to the dining room for breakfast.
"My, you're up earlier than usual," Mother remarked.
"It's sunny," I grumpily replied.
"And so it was too bright to sleep in, eh?" Father assumed correctly.
"Well, it turns out that you're so early, you're in time to help make breakfast," Mother continued.
I groaned inwardly and started towards the kitchen. "What'll it be today, Ma? Eggs and bacon, or milk and pancakes?" I sarcastically sneered as I recounted our narrow variety of food.
"Now, now, we'll have none of that," said Mother as she followed
